: Does your outlook on life effect your emotions or the other way around...

: Why does sadness live in your stomach, and happiness in your your throat.

Stomach has densed concentration of nerve and gannglions in the human body than any place other than the brain. The nerves there work on the same neuro-transmitters as the ones in the brain. Thus, if one is serotonin deficient on the 'head-brain' one is also in the 'stomach-brain'. This explains many of the irritating gastric side-effects of the current generation anti-depressants - the SSRI's (selective seretonin re-uptake inhibitors) such as prozac and paxil.

Tweaking serotonin or other neuro-transmitter levels in the brain effects the stomach brain. Dominant 'alpha' males are known to have high serotonin levels, and people of lower social status similarly lower levels. It is no wonder that they would feel sick to the stomch, so to speak.
