I like your thinking.
Jacob Bronowski, in his book, "The Ascent of Man" states that not only does life evolve, but matter itself evolves. The universe evolved for billions of years with stars forming, then exploding as supernova, scattering their contents, which formed planets, in which life evolved. But as life evolved, then awareness evolved into consciousness, and now consciousness is evolving. And as you pointed out, doesn't the evolution of consciousness depend upon what has been recorded, and our social environment etc. So did it start with the first forms of literate communication? good question. Could it of started with pre-literate communication?
You take it from here.
