It is an inarguable fact that McCarthyism is synonomous with facism. You only betray your ignorance for denying that fact. You want to say "he was a discredited Senator in a democracy," as if being a Senator in a democracy precludes him from being a facist. What do you think he was discredited for? He was discredited for being a facist as much as Lott, the Republican Senate Majority leader is discredited for being a racist.

It is no wonder that you cannot acknowledge the existence of fascism in America, being in denial about your own fascism. Characteristic of all fascists is to use insults, smears, and character assassination as a silencing measure. Watch McCarthy's harrangues at the House Unamerican Activities Hearings, and you will see the mirror image of yourself. Anyone who disagreed with McCarthy he labeled a "commie," (i.e., "unamerican") just as anyone who disagrees with your politics is automatically labeled "anti-American."

Maybe it's time for you to go, before the reflection in the mirror of your screen shows you more about yourself than you're prepared to deal with.
