How is a raven like a writing desk?
Well, how is it different?

One answer to your two-part question is: No; it's not located in a box on a desk. On the other hand, if you suggest it is (like a computer system), then doesn't that resurrect the Thomistic argument from intelligent design? Isn't a computer system teleological, i.e., designed to serve a purpose (or group of purposes)? Can this be the same Eldras of old, stomping on the grave of Darwin?

no,
