i had a similar experience many years ago when on a school field trip. i remember not feeling physically 'there', and voices seemed far off and muffled. however, i don't think this was a near death experience, but just a bit of a physical stress or something, though i don't know what brought it on.
i don't know if you've ever seen the film 'trainspotting', but there is a scene where a guy is hallucinating. his hallucination seems a bit like an nde.
